The role of a MS SQL Server DBA & Backup Administrator is to support worldwide SQL Server database systems and Simpana backup systems.

Main missions and challenges

• Supports worldwide SQL Server database systems and Simpana backup systems
• He/She is responsible for the 3rd level support and the definition + observation of standards in the domain
• He/She supports the 2nd level support in their activities
• He/She is dealing with SQL Server (version 2012, 2014 and 2016) installation and configuration (standalone machines, clusters and allways-on availability groups)
• He/She is qualified to perform all SQL Server 2012, 2014 and 2016 database administrator tasks including database fine tuning
• He/She is also responsible for delivering backup agents for SQL Server to local sites and datacenters

Especially, his/her most important tasks are:

• Providing 3rd level support for operational teams
• Providing of know how of MS SQL and Commvault Simpana in projects and daily business
• Participation in development and implementation of new technologies and systems
• Participation during the project phase for new sites and further development of existing sites
• Supporting of installations on-site
• Development, maintenance and providing IT documentation
• Carrying out of technical audits with the target to improve the situation on-site
• Optimization of performance, availability and quality
• Teaching and coaching of 1st and 2nd level support colleagues
• Development, implementation and testing of standardization
• Participation in projects and working together with teams from other competence center

Profile

• Degree in information technologies or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum two languages (English is a must)
• Ability to communicate and work in international teams
• Travels: about 10%
• 2 years of professional experience in the required areas (desired)
• Competencies or specials know-how in:
• MS Windows Server 2012R2 Operating System
• Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2014 and 2016 (standalone, clustered, always on availability groups)
• Commvault Simpana V10 and V11, IBM Spectrum Protect or any enterprise backup system
