Tasks & accountabilities

• The Airbus Engineering Support System (ESS) is a software system for the administration and evaluation of technical flight data.
• It is based on a 3-layer architecture with Rich Client, Application Server and database. It is developed with current technologies such as Eclipse e4, JavaEE 7 in compliance with aviation-specific development processes and using agile methods.
• The system and software architecture of the ESS is a basic prerequisite for long-term maintainability and further development in the area of new functionality, but also for use by various air forces for different aircraft types.

For a software developer in the Airbus ESS project, this results in the following activities:

• Understanding the concepts and principles behind the existing system and software architecture
• Implementation of the technical and functional design specifications within the architectural concepts and principles of the system
• Analysis of design specifications and consulting with regard to implementation in terms of the overall system
• Ensure test coverage by implementing automated tests

Required skills

You have the following knowledge and qualifications:

• IT/computer science studies (Univ/FH/BA) or equivalent education / knowledge
• Extensive experience in the development of complex software systems
• Very good knowledge of software development in Java and JavaEE
• Good overview of current technologies in the Java environment
• Knowledge of methods and technologies for the evaluation of extensive rule sets is desirable
• Understanding of development processes and methods in software development
• Enthusiasm for working in a quality-conscious and dynamic team
• Fluent in German and English
• Confident appearance and high ability to work in a team
• Eurofighter knowledge is an advantage
