Description of the job

A vacancy for a Head of Operational Analysis (f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “Operational Analysis”.

Tasks & accountabilities

• Disciplinary, functional, technical and organisational lead of the department „Operational Analysis“ with overall responsibility for all Team Members in Manching and Getafe and the related tasks for projects and / or programmes in agreement with the home organisation of “Military Aircraft Future Projects”
• Functional, technical and personal development and training of team members
• Technical Management for projects under our lead or in support of the project lead mainly in the area of military weapon system development with a focus on the airborne platform and related operational capabilities
• Project management of all tasks with a focus on Operational Analysis and the related inputs being derived for the conceptual design, definition, evaluation and performance analysis of military platforms (Transport-, Combatand Mission aircraft) being manned or unmanned.
• Ensuring competence and know-how sustainment or development in the specific expertise of operational analysis including maintenance and / or development of tools, methods and working procedures and their documentation
• Planning and Controlling of departmental tasks and workload, milestone delivery On-Time, On-Cost, On-Quality according to agreed projectand program plans
• Acquisition of new contracts related to technological and conceptual Studies as part of or in agreement with workpackages of the Business Line Military Aircraft (with strong focus on operational or technological demonstration in simulation and / or flight)
• Definition of work packages including subcontracting when needed
• Support of the portfolio management and sales & marketing organisation on product evaluation of existing or new products as part of campaigns and competitor analysis
• Responsible interface to internal and external partners (e.g. Airbus DS, Airbus Group, CTO-Office, national MoDs and national Technology and Research Institutes and Defence Departments. European Agencies and Project Partners (in military and civil aerospace)
• This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

• Educated to degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Military / Armed Forces background (preferably with Airforce operational experience)
• Experience in the field of Project Management
• Ability to lead a team
• MS Office (Excel and Project)
• Fluent in English
• Fluent in German and/or Spanish
