Data Scientist for R&D Integration (m/f/d), Wuppertal-Aprath

Missions

• Enable digital platforms on an operational level as foundation for data integration and curation
• Provision of ontologies and terminologies for PH R&D core areas
• Development and implementation of customized and semi-automated data management processes
• Identification and evaluation of new tools and technologies in the field of ontology usage, generation and management
• Development of new data models based on the semantic web technology stack
• Support the implementation of guidelines for FAIRification of data
• Assure that all data generated by PH R&D are following the FAIR data principles and support FAIRification of legacy data by consulting in technical as well as content-related questions
• Support of cross-functional projects in the area of data integration

Profile

• MD/Ph.D. degree in biomedical life sciences (especially bioinformatics/biochemistry/biology/medicine), ideally in combination with an informatics background
• Basic understanding of Pharma R&D processes, ideally with first practical experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Good knowledge in the field of application of FAIR data principles
• Experience with large data sets, ontologies, curation, and standardization processes using workflows and pipeline tools as well as programming skills like Python and R
• Knowledge in data modelling (particularly considering metadata with adequate tooling) and storage systems such as RDBs, Triple (RDF) and graph stores, as well as other NoSQL DBs
• Knowledge of collaborative software-engineering-technologies and infrastructures like GIT, Docker, Cloud-based solutions (AWS or Azure)
• Good technical grasp, creativity and innovative mindset as well as very good communication, presentation and organizational skills
• Fluent in spoken and written English
