Missions

  • Support the supplier selection process focusing on tooling cost of bought out parts
  • Technical and commercial assessment and calculation of tooling costs and offers provided by suppliers
  • Technical and economical assessment of tooling construction effort (make or buy decision)
  • Negotiates with the Program Buyer the tooling cost of complex stamping and forming parts and supports in the sourcing committee process with explanation to guarantee the best supplier selection
  • Consult suppliers to ensure best tooling concepts and optimized cost are applied
  • Develop cost models for tooling (stamping and forming tools)
  • Evaluates and provides tooling cost impact and feasibility of Engineering Change Request (ECRs) and design changes and negotiates the tooling cost with the supplier in coordination with the Program Buyer
  • Interface with CBU / Program team to support the selling of tools towards OEM (increase tool margin)
  • Is in charge of the overall tooling sourcing strategy incl. the identification of new LCC sources and the setup of new sourcing models

Profil

Academic Background:

  • Minimum a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
  • Experience :
  • Several years of experience in automotive industry
  • Similar previous experience (Tool Shop Manager, Tool Designer)
  • Good technical understanding of stamping processes
  • Expert in stamping processes preferred
  • Skills and competencies:
  • Understanding of supplier cost structures
  • Technical understanding of tool and manufacturing concepts and the related cost impact
  • Experiences in simulation (deep drawing) and materials would be appreciated
  • Fluent English
  • Good written and presentation skills
  • Planning and organization skills
  • International mindset
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Intercultural awareness (especially Asia)
