The main missions

• Close communication with customer Daimler and main interface to the Design team
• Creation of 3-D designs and design concepts as well as calculations in close cooperation with the development and tooling engineer.
• Develop feasible designs, considering determined manufacturing processes. Perform engineering calculations for mass, strength and mechanical performance in coorperation with the CAX department
• Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documents including the use of the corresponding PDM (Product Data Management) system.
• Provide alternative design solutions; analysis of current designs by taking into account design guidelines and corresponding product and process KM (Knowledge Management) documents.
• Insure the quality of designers' and designservice companies' work by giving them clear, complete technical direction and verify the output.
• Lead all design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.
• Develop tolerance calculations and visualize through gapplans in close coordination with product engineering.
• Ensure the compliance of the design with customer specifications and legal regulations.
• Prepare the design planning by taking into account the project schedules and coordination of this planning with the responsible program development leader as well as with the program manager.
• Organize and lead of regularly design reviews in close collaboration with all responsible development staff and document the work results.
• Lead the internal design team and coordinate external design service companies.
• Continous budget control of internal and external design spendings. Prepare requirement requests and check and approve all external services

Profile

• Master's degree in engineering
• Experience in Design & Development within an industrial environment, ideally in the automotive industry
• Knowledge and experience in the Project Management process
• Management competency; lead of design team with internal and external staff
• Good knowledge of Program standards, tools, and methods
• Very good knowledge of CAD system NX11 and Catia V5
• Good knowledge of the development process of the customer Daimler
• Familiar with primary manufacturing methods
• Team player with strong communication skills
• International mind set
• Minimum bi-lingual (German required)
• Mobile to travel to Stuttgart intensively
