Tasks & accountabilities

  • In general the research activities are about R&D in surface technology for aeronautic applications.
  • The main function of this position is the development of surface treatments and products related to REACh and for additive manufactured (AM) metallic parts, which are known to be enabling technologies for many applications in Airbus products. ´
  • The basics of the surface polishing technology (i.e. 3D SurFin) were developed at CTO in the frame of the PhD thesis
  • This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills

  • Educated to a degree in Chemistry or similar
  • Comprehensive know-how and overview about surface technologies relevant for aeronautic applications, including interdependency of surface and mechanical properties of materials
  • Know-how about the surface polishing technologies for metallic parts, Know-how about Airbus 3D SurFin process (including physical-chemical mechanisms and experimental operation)
  • Know-how about REACh relevant surface technology, i.e. chromate replacement, chemical conversion coating, corrosion inhibition
  • Experiences in performing surface treatment experiments and related analysis/ characterisation
  • Experiences about the CRT internal organisation and laboratory processes including HSE
  • Project management including planning, controlling and reporting
  • Detailed know how about the network of all relevant internal and external stakeholders of the AM community
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Fluent in German and English
